Picture breaking up, channels missing or a "No Signal" message?
When the picture goes, most people assume they need a new aerial. In our experience, many reception faults come from something smaller: a cable that has let in water, a corroded plug, a booster that has burnt out, or an aerial that the wind has knocked a few degrees off line.
We start every repair by measuring the signal at the aerial, along the cable and at each wall socket. That tells us exactly where the signal drops, so you only pay for the part that has actually failed. If the aerial itself is the problem, we'll show you the meter reading and explain why before recommending a replacement.
Signal strength and quality measured at the aerial, the cable runs and every TV point.
Water-damaged or perished coax replaced with double-screened, low-loss cable, and joints weatherproofed.
Masthead amplifiers, power supply units and splitters tested and replaced if faulty.
Aerials that have moved re-pointed at the strongest local transmitter and secured.
Loose chimney lashings, brackets and poles tightened or replaced so the aerial stays put.
Every TV and box retuned, with a final check on each channel group.
Swansea's hills, the coastline and the valleys mean signal strength changes a lot from one street to the next. Homes are usually served by the Kilvey Hill relay or the Carmel main transmitter, and an aerial pointed at the wrong one, or knocked slightly off line, can lose channels even when it looks fine from the ground. Coastal air in places like Mumbles and the Gower also corrodes aerials and connectors faster, so we use weather-resistant fittings on every repair.
Which TVs are affected, what you see on screen and your postcode. A photo of the aerial taken from the ground helps.
Meter readings at the aerial, cable and sockets show exactly where the fault is.
We explain the problem in plain English and give you a fixed price before starting.
The repair is done, every TV is retuned, and we check every channel before leaving.
It depends on the fault. Replacing a connector or a short run of cable costs far less than a new aerial. We test first and give you a fixed price before any work, and there's no call-out charge.
Most aerials can be repaired or realigned. We only recommend a replacement if yours is corroded, damaged, or the wrong type for your transmitter, and we'll show you the readings that prove it.
Usually because water has got into the cable or the aerial's connection box. Wet cable loses signal. Replacing the damaged section and sealing the joints normally fixes it.
Probably not. If the other TVs are fine, the fault is likely that room's wall socket, flylead, splitter or cable run, which is a quicker and cheaper repair.
